High School Senior Pictures
Senior Pictures - Portrait Session Information
So its that time… your baby is getting ready to head into their senior year of high school and then, boom, off to college. And now its time for senior photos! Well, you have come to the right place! Lets go over a few things to prep for so we can make this session a painless as possible.
To be fair I have been super lucky with my high school seniors. They have come to me with a flood of ideas and excitement about their photo sessions. I think since they have grown up in front of the camera, this is just a natural everyday thing for them. So here are a few things that they have taught me…
Listen to all the ideas no matter how wild or mild. Sometimes your child is outgoing but really no clear vision (or care) as to what they want for their session. Sometimes your child wants a T-Rex chasing them down the football field. With that in mind, it’s important to have a consultation with everyone and come up with a game plan that is going to work. I am here to try to accommodate dreams and everything in between. If we can make it happen, we will.
Wardrobe is important. Some families also like to use this session as a “college” reveal. So make sure you order your college T-shirt in plenty of time. Make sure all the items your senior wants to wear still fits properly. They are more than likely going to be moving around a fair bit, and being comfortable and able to move is important. You will also want to avoid any crazy colors or wild patterns. These images are going to be on your walls for a very long time, think about some of your wardrobe choices in the context of 20, 30, 40 years from now. Will they stand the test of time? We certainly want to bring your child’s personality to the forefront, but lets also bring some “grandmas gonna love it” options as well.
Thoughts on hair and make-up. If you are having it done will need to be done in plenty of time for your session (including travel). Typical HMUA sessions take an hour or more, so make sure you budget plenty of time to get to your session! If we are shooting outdoors we are a slave to available sunlight, and once its gone… its gone. If you are opting for an in studio portrait session, that gives us a little more leeway! If you need help finding someone to do hair and makeup let me know. I work with several stylists who come to the studio. Typically you would be looking at $150 for hair and makeup.
Once the session is complete, it will take about two weeks for your child’s pictures to be edited and completed. Once they are done, I will contact you so we can set up a time to review your images and process your order. In regards to your reveal session, it is important for any people who are to be involved in the ordering process to also be at the session. We are flexible on timing for reveal sessions so in most cases we should be able to accommodate a variety of schedules.
